OCD Therapy
At The Flatiron Center
At TFC, we don't just focus on reducing your OCD symptoms — we go deeper.
“We don’t treat just OCD per se.
We treat the person suffering from OCD.”
— Dr. Sean Condon, Ph.D., Clinical Director
Our approach encompasses how you think, how you make decisions and tackle uncertainty, and ways in which your personality and life experiences shape your OCD symptoms.
Do you spend hours replaying conversations, checking and re-checking your feelings, or second-guessing whether you’ve made the right decision?
Have you tried to reason your way out of the anxiety, only to find yourself pulled back into the same repetitive thought patterns?
Are moments of relief quickly erased by fresh doubts and questions?
OCD feels like your mind never gives you a break. The harder you work at it, the worse it gets.
Every answer creates new questions, and it feels like there’s no way out. But our OCD therapists understand how these anxieties work, and are here to guide you through them.
So, whether you've lived with OCD for years or you're encountering some of these symptoms for the first time, we're here to help.
OCD Clients Come To Us When They:
Ruminate incessantly but never find an answer
Struggle with persistent doubt and uncertainty
Feel anxious, tense and uncertain
Experience repetitive, intrusive and distressing thoughts
Compulsively repeat actions or rituals
Report restless, inconsistent or interrupted sleep
Constantly question their personal relationships
Have unrealistic or exaggerated fears of making mistakes
“OCD can take many forms, but the core experience is often the same: Your mind refuses to let something go, and you end up trapped in repetitive thought loops instead of living your life.”
Not Sure If It Even Is OCD?
That’s okay. Many people come to us without a diagnosis.
They just know that they're exhausted by constant doubt, anxiety, or mental rituals. Whether it’s OCD or not, we'll help you understand what's happening and recommend the right path forward.
How We Approach OCD Therapy
Together we'll identify the situations that trigger obsessive thinking, the compulsions that reduce anxiety — but only temporarily — and the cycle that keeps bringing you back to the same place. And we’ll also help you understand how your own mind works: Why you find these situations so triggering and why you have so much trouble letting them go.
From there, we'll gradually build up your ability to think and respond differently. Instead of trying to eliminate intrusive thoughts — which ultimately never works — you'll learn how to stop feeding them.
Common Types Of OCD We Treat:
Checking/Harm OCD
Contamination OCD
Ordering OCD
Relationship OCD
Sexual OCD
Our OCD Treatment Modalities
-
ERP helps you gradually face anxieties while learning you don’t need to rely on compulsions or reassurance to cope. Over time, you discover anxiety can come and go and it’s okay … and you’re okay.
-
Builds skills for emotion regulation, mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness and distress tolerance. These are especially helpful when you feel like your reactions are “too much.”
-
Beyond thoughts, dynamic therapy helps you understand the emotions, attitudes and relational patterns that shape your experience and anxieties. This opens the door to deeper, longer-lasting change than symptom reduction alone.
-
TFC therapy helps you understand yourself, beyond just managing your symptoms. Our collaborative approach helps you see yourself with clarity and compassion, and helps you approach life with self-assurance, intention and flexibility.
As therapy progresses, TFC clients often report something unexpected: They're not just less stuck and less anxious…. They're making decisions with greater confidence, trusting themselves more, and feeling more grounded and present in their daily lives.
Develop A New Relationship With Yourself
Over time, therapeutic goals expand beyond symptom relief. It's about living life according to your own values and beliefs, not what OCD dictates.
After Working With Us, Clients Report:
Less worry, anxiety and over-thinking
Fewer compulsive thought patterns and behaviors
Clearer, more effective decision making
More consistent, restful sleep
Feeling less trapped in repetitive OCD cycles
Feeling more grounded and self-assured
Experiencing greater freedom and personal agency
Our OCD Therapists
About The Flatiron Center
We're a New York City-based practice built around understanding people, not just diagnoses.
All of our clinicians are Ph.D. level psychologists. They have advanced training in OCD, anxiety, trauma, attachment, and relationship concerns. Each therapist brings a unique perspective while sharing the same commitment to individually tailored, evidence-based care.
While many clinics begin with symptoms, we begin by understanding how you experience yourself, your relationships, and your world. That perspective shapes every recommendation we make and every treatment plan we create.
Availability: We provide in-person therapy in New York City, and telehealth sessions across New York state.
